BASIC MONDAY/FUNDAY

In the summer, Monday does not exist on the calendar of a junior high student, instead it is FUNDAY! Each Monday (right after Camp Stronghold) BASIC hosts various fun activities to help break up the boredom of summer. This summer we went to the movies, splashed and swam at Lost Island Waterpark, attended a concert in Coralville, went ice skating, and much much more!

Each summer, ETC youth head to Pittsburgh for a week of working with people in the Pittsburgh area who are socioeconomically disadvantaged.

FAITHS

My friends, what good is it to say you have faith if you don't do anything to show that you have faith? James 2:14

FAITHS (Friends Acting In The Holy Spirit) is a week-long summer mission day camp for students entering grades 7-12. We work on service projects each day in the Iowa City/Coralville area.

In 2018 we served the community from June 18-22. Our days began at 8:30 am with devotions and directions. Our work ended by early afternoon, generally between 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.  Click here to look at the registration form.

Here was this year's schedule:

June 18:  Clean ditches on Highway 6
June 19: Sort canned goods at St. Andrew and deliver them to the Johnson County Crisis Center

June 20: Help the Iowa City Parks Department
June 21: Sort clothes at the Crowded Closet

June 22: Grandparents' Lunch

As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake--for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, "Follow me and I will make you fish for people." And immediately they left their nets and followed him. As he went a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets. Immediately he called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, and followed him.  Matthew 4:18-22

Net*Work is an interactive Christian Education experience for youth and interested adults. Yes, all our 7th - 12th graders learn together from 9:45 to 10:30 am on Sundays as a whole group, and they are joined by any interested adults who are seeking to grow in their own understanding and practice of being a disciple of Jesus Christ.
